Quod Ames (Something You May Love)

Working on a new comic for the Fanime 2026 Doujin fest, Manga Ichiba! It's apparently going to be the first doujinshi-centric fest in the United States, and I'm super excited to be bringing my very own homecooked historical medieval RPF yaoi comics to the table. If you're planning to swing by, I will be exhibiting on Sunday, May 24th, during the evening slot at 6pm to 12am! You can find more information about the event on the site link above or on my other blog here.

Comic Information:

My comic so far is titled "Quod Ames (Something You May Love)," after a line from Ovid's Ars Armatoria (The Art of Love). It's Richard the Lionheart x Philip Augustus centric, and is set vaguely in an undefined late 1170s era, before either of them had gained their famous epithets.

Summary: (in progress) The crown prince of the Franks gets lost in the woods one day, and is rescued by a friend with questionable history and intentions. Will he accept strange affections or continue to resist them? The answer MAY SURPRISE YOU (or not).

I have opened an interest check form that you can check out below if you are interested in being reading it!

There are options for whether you are interested in buying a physical copy, digital copy, or simply want to be alerted when the comic is available to read on this site.

Tags: BL, Knight x Prince, Medieval. It's historical, but meant to be understandable as a standalone story. 18+.

CWs: period-typical homophobia, period-typical dubious consent, agegap (unstated ages due to nebulous timeframe). Some noncon fantasies. Not shota but there are flashbacks that reference this early dynamic.  Details may change prior to printing/completing the work, so just keep in mind.

Previews and Sample Pages

I've made a page where you can see sample pages and some concept art and info here:

You can also get an idea of the dynamic I'm going for with these past comic doodles I've done:

Specs:
  • Aiming for 36 pages + covers ( but may go over the limit...)
  • Black and white interiors
  • HOPING to have Color covers if possible, but will depend on time constraints.)
  • so far planning for half-letter sized (8.5"x5.5"), saddle stapled.
Will be printing physical books as well as digital editions.
  • Pricing for physical is not yet determined, will depend ultimately on length. Hoping to keep it around $15 USD but we shall See.
  • Digital will probably be $5 for initial/early run, will include some bonus content not in print.
  • I would like to host the comic on my site publicly when I am finished with the con + processing sales.

Other info:

For updates, If you're interested in following along have a progress thread on my side acct onbluesky where I just talk about the boring process of writing and planning. I'll probably start an art/preview thread while I'm actually working on comics. Anyways this is probably a lot more info than anyone needs but I thought I'd include it as well.
